Ext, OpenAjax: planet Ajax organized
A caress of sweet dreams more or less consciously the full Ajax developers is to have javascript libraries organized, flexible and responsive to Standards minimizing compatibility issues. Far from thinking that this Grail can be achieved in the short term, it is with pleasure that I announced the launch of the beta Ext.
Ext is a library which, in its original, extended core Yahoo UI to make available a number of handy widgets (calendars, tabs, sliders ...). Well-architected, the library could be quickly adapted to dispense YahooUI kernel to replace the excellent JQuery or the famous couple Protoype + scriptaculous.
has Ext To date twenty widgets of high quality, but also and above all excellent documentation taking full advantage of ext. Beyond performance, is the effort of genericity / modularity of the authors of this library makes me optimistic for the future.
This seems part of a broader movement to streamline the small world Ajax. Another telling fact of this movement, the OpenAjax Alliance is coming out of the impasse in which I thought she was:
- Google and Microsoft have recently joined
- the OpenAjax Hub , a set of specifications respect for Ajax libraries
produced by members of the Alliance, is about to release version 1.0
It is quite happy to see ajax mature at the time alternatives to RIA multiplien t and where the editors give a heck to bring developers to AJAX technology.
